Marginal Gains & Sport Performance: Getting a Competitive Edge
The cricket world cup is upon us and it makes me think about the impact of physical and psychological stress on performance.
In addition to the expectations of self, team and coach, there is the great desire of the public for their team to win. If we take the position that thoughts, words and emotions are energy, imagine the weight of this energy on the players representing their country. And if it goes wrong....
The ferocious backlash if disaster strikes, has an enormous negative energy impact on players and athletes on both a conscious and subconscious level. If this is not released, it can carry forward into future performances as trauma, and impact on the energy matrix of the individuals, team and even their families.
Lower self esteem, guilt, shame and even fear of competition can result. Trauma can be also associated with stadiums, making it difficult to compete.
Luckily, top teams and athletes have the necessary support to get them through high stakes matches, events or crushing losses.
But what about you and I? What about children who are keen to make their mark in sport and are sensitive to peer pressure?
Whether you're preparing for a first ever 10k running race or a mountain biking stage race – how best to get every advantage out of your environment, body and attitude? What are some the factors that inhibit good performance or outcomes?
Stress is like dragging a ball and chain behind you. It negatively impacts on peak performance.
We can hold belief systems that undermine our ability to perform – 'I'm not good enough to win, I don't deserve success'.
The expectation on ourselves or from our well-meaning family can put too much pressure on us to perform.
Or a buried childhood memory can sabotage our best efforts to achieve the best possible outcome.
The BodyTalk system is uniquely positioned to help clients achieve their best performances. Not only can it work on subconscious limitations, but it can positively influence the co-ordination of the musculoskeletal system.
It has the ability to set or reset communication between the brain and adrenals before a big event, or it can re-balance hydration in the various muscle groups or organs.
Imagine being able to exchange negative mindsets for positive at crucial moments in the event.
BodyTalk is able to support the body, mind and spirit when under pressure to perform – no matter what the level of competition. It's more than marginal gains, much more.
So why not give yourself a better chance of reaching your goals in sport or exercise?
Book a session of BodyTalk that focuses on preparation for your event.
