Embracing Asking For Help
Asking for help is something many of us struggle with, yet it’s key to living a balanced and fulfilling life. Why is it so hard to reach out when we need support?
Why is it so hard?
The fear of asking for help often stems from deeply rooted beliefs and societal conditioning. We might worry that asking for help makes us appear weak, or we may fear burdening others with our problems. Sometimes, it's our pride or the desire to maintain control that holds us back.
These fears are understandable, but they can also keep us isolated and overwhelmed. It’s important to remember that asking for help is not a sign of weakness—it’s a sign of strength and self-awareness. Recognising when we need support, and being willing to reach out is a powerful act of self-care.
Baby steps
To begin overcoming this fear, start with a simple mantra:
"It’s okay to ask for help; I am worthy of support."
Repeat this to yourself whenever you feel hesitant to reach out. This gentle reminder helps to shift your mindset and make asking for help feel more natural.
Start small
Begin by asking for help with small tasks, or reaching out to someone you trust for a little advice.
As you become more comfortable, you’ll find it easier to seek support in larger, more significant areas of your life. Remember, everyone needs help at times, and most people are more than willing to offer their support when asked.
If you’re struggling with this, remember when you’ve been there for others. Think about how willing you were to help, and know that others feel the same way about supporting you.
As you learn to embrace the support available to you, BodyTalk can help you release any deep-seated fears or limiting beliefs that make asking for help feel challenging. By fostering a sense confidence, BodyTalk supports your journey toward a more connected and supported life.
