Healing vs. Curing: The Striking Difference
Is there a difference between healing and curing?
It seems that around every corner is a healer or a claim for a cure. How do we know what will work for our particular situation?
I have been re-reading Anatomy of the Spirit by Caroline Myss and it triggered a thought process because I have sought cures and I seek healing. Why does BodyTalk continue to give me the most profound and impactful results? What was the difference in the approaches?
We all seek a cure
No matter the affliction, we want to be rid of it. Autoimmune diseases, mental health challenges, the common cold - we are desperate for relief of symptoms and to get on with our lives. For many ailments, such as a broken bone, surgery for a torn ligament or an infection, we, the patients, don't have to be actively involved in the process. Point A to B is clear. We show up at the doctor, take his advice on an intervention and move on. Our attitude is less important to the outcome. We can remain passive in the process. We are able to hand over responsibility to the specialist or the physician. But what happens if this process does not bring about a positive change in our state of health?
Which brings me to Healing
According to Myss, healing revolves around our spiritual and emotional recovery. When we seek healing, we are actively involved in exploring our attitudes, experiences, memories and beliefs that are contributing to our lack of progress in physical health. That autoimmune disease that won't let go, those severe pains in our joints that don't respond to traditional cures, the ongoing fatigue that dominates our days. Healing seeks out the persistent negative patterns that drag us down. Through healing, we begin the process of claiming back our personal power and allowing ourselves to become the most important player in our lives.
Healing provides us with the nurturing we need to be well again.
The description above tells me that BodyTalk is true healing. It reveals the negative blockages, experiences or memories that weaken us, that hold us back from becoming strong, divine beings. BodyTalk allows us to look within, evaluate the negative patterns or beliefs that we still cling to (knowingly or unknowingly) and releases them. It gives us back our power so we can grow and thrive. It shows us how to make choices that resonate with our own innate healing requirements. It supports us on a physical, emotional and spiritual level.
In effect, BodyTalk shows us how to become our own life coaches.
